2018 Entry Requirements

Upper second class honours BA (or equivalent) in Arabic.
An upper second class honours BA / BSc degree in any other subject is an acceptable qualification providing it is accompanied by the required level of Arabic language: students should be able to read and understand original Classical Arabic texts, such as Qur’an, Hadith, Tafsir, Sirah, Fiqh.

Overview

The MA offers the students the opportunity to concentrate on the Qur’an, the Hadith and other Islamic texts, and so provides a unique training in the translation of Islamic religious material.

The degree is designed to benefit academics, teachers of Islam in other institutions, translators of Islamic material into English in research centres, government departments and da’wa centres. It provides excellent research training and is a useful qualification for those who wish to progress to higher postgraduate degrees.

Overview

The Islamic Online University (IOU) has launched the world’s first tuition-free Master’s degree in Islamic Studies program, which is offered completely online and in English as a medium of instruction.

This is an excellent opportunity for the BA students to continue, further, and enhance their understanding and knowledge of the religion.

This graduate program consists of 15 courses, thesis preparation and the master’s thesis in the fourth semester.

The regular duration of the program is two years. Nevertheless, students may complete it within one and half years minimum. One can take a maximum of six years to complete the program.

The knowledgeable and the ignorant is never the same in the eyes of Allah as He says (interpretation of the meaning), “Say, ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not know?’” (Qur’an, Az-Zumar 39:9)

Furthermore, Muslims are encouraged to pursue perfection in any action. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Indeed, Allah loves that whenever any one of you does something, he or she does it in the best way.” (At-Tabarani)

Currency; Fees should be paid in US dollars. Please note that we must receive the complete amount. Therefore, when you make the payment, pay the currency transfer charges after confirming the exact amount from your bank, so that we receive the full amount due from you.

For example, a student who has to pay US $120 might have to include a currency transfer charge of approximately US $20 so that we receive the full amount.
