From its foundation LSE has aimed to be a laboratory of the social sciences, a place where ideas are developed, analysed, evaluated and disseminated around the globe.

Distance education or distance learning is the education of students who may not always be physically present at a school. Traditionally, this usually involved correspondence courses wherein the student corresponded with the school via post. A method of studying in which lectures are broadcast or lessons are conducted by correspondence, without the student needing to attend a school or college. But it is done totally online now, no more letters or correspondences. Unlike 100% online studies, distance learning may be scheduled; meaning you have to be available when it is lecture time.
Benefits of Studying 100% Online
Personalisation
With so many different online courses to choose from, and an even wider range of specialisations and elective modules, you can ensure that your online studies are optimised for your personal requirements. You can even tailor your mode of study, with an exciting array of stimulating media which allow you to engage with your studies however you learn best.
Flexibility
The flexible nature of e-learning means that your study schedule can be made to fit around your professional and family commitments, not the other way around. In some cases, you can even adjust the length of your online course, either to create an accelerated programme, or to extend your studies over a longer, less-intensive period.
