Malta is one of the world’s smallest and most densely populated countries. Despite its size, Malta is one of the ruling countries in Europe when it comes to international standard of education. Tuition Fees and Admission Requirements
As an international student that wants to study at the undergraduate level, you have to show these documents;
- Senior Secondary/High School Leaving Certificate
- One year of successfully completed university education
- Proof of proficiency in English, e.g. TOEFL or IELTS
For graduate studies, you will have to show;

- Bachelor’s degree 4 year diploma
- Proof of proficiency in English, e.g. TOEFL or IELTS
The Tuition fee is between 6000-9000 Euros per year for international students
Cost of living in Malta
Cost of living in Malta is cheap and affordable. It is estimated at € 300 to € 600 per month. But this amount which is based on some unchanging facts can take care of your accommodation cost, feeding, transport, etc. You only have to be careful on how you spend your funds so you can spend much lesser.
Application Deadlines
If you are an international student planning to study in Malta for more than 3 months, you must apply for an e-residence document. This document is to replace the old identity card system. The requirements needed are similar to what is got from the visa requirement section below. Note that you can only apply for this after your arrival in the country.
The application deadline for students going for the 1st semester or for the full academic year is usually around June.
Student Visa Requirements
International Students from the EU, US and a few other countries do not require a visa to study in Malta for less than three months. But If you want to stay for a longer period, you have to consult the Maltese embassy or consulate in your country to find out whether you need a visa.
For students that must have a visa, these are the visa requirements;
- Completed visa application form
- Valid travel document (passport)
- Two passport-size photographs
- A valid return ticket or certificate of prepaid return journey
- Proof of access to sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses
- Letter of acceptance from a Maltese educational institute
- Proof of accommodation arrangements on arrival
- Proof of medical insurance for duration of your stay
